Any generator is designed to supply "its consumers" with electric current, as well as to charge the battery. The VAZ 2107 generator is an AC device model 372.3701.

Do-it-yourself repair and assembly

Before proceeding with the repair of this device, you should see what the VAZ 2107 generator circuit looks like, its parts and the electrical connection diagram. This will come in handy during the renovation process.



We remove the unit from the engine and, using the “ten” key, unscrew the nut from the “30” terminal. Dismantle the capacitor wire.

We unscrew the fastening screw and remove the capacitor.

Remove the charging relay and the corresponding insulating washer.

We unscrew the fastening nut from the pulley.

We disassemble the pulley and the impeller.

We remove the ring installed behind the key.

We pull the front cover off the rotor shaft

Remove the adjusting washer (do not forget to put it back when installing).

Using the “8” key, unscrew the nuts that hold the bearing

Remove the outer and inner bearing caps.

Knock out the bearing.

Press in new bearing. To do this, you need to apply a few light blows through a special mandrel.

We knock out the anchor from the back cover. We remove it together with the rear bearing.

If it needs to be replaced, remove it from the rotor shaft.

We unscrew the three nuts with which the stator terminals are attached to the diode bridge.

We take out three bolts from the back cover along with special insulating gaskets.


It is better to replace, if necessary, the diode bridge assembly. We clean all parts of the generator from dirt, dust and oil. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order.

The VAZ 2107 generator converts the mechanical energy of the rotation of the crankshaft of the motor into electrical energy. It is also designed to power the entire on-board network, and is also necessary to recharge the battery. To convert alternating current to direct current, the unit is equipped with six diodes. A special relay-regulator serves to maintain the voltage at a given level. This device is located outside the generator.

When the ignition is turned on, the voltage, passing through the control lamp of the car, reaches the regulator, and from it is transmitted to the excitation winding. It is powered by three diodes. They are in the rectifier. If during start-up the control lamp continues to burn, then there is insufficient battery charging. It is necessary to check what is the state of the voltage of the on-board network. If it is below normal, then:

  • there was a short circuit in the network;
  • there were malfunctions in the battery;
  • there were malfunctions of the automotive relay-regulator;
  • malfunctions of the VAZ 2107 generator.

In this situation, you should check the belt tension, as well as the condition of its bearing, and see if the relay-regulator is working. It will not be superfluous to once again review the expiration date and the actual condition of the battery. If everything is normal, and the voltage is not enough, you need to contact an auto electrician. The generator of the presented car model does not need special care. You just need to make sure that water and dirt do not get on it. You should also check the condition of the belt (you need it to be tight, approximately like in the video), and it is also important that the bearing is constantly lubricated and does not create noise during operation.
